SharePoint Intranet
I inherited a Drupal 7 Intranet build on the Open Atrium platform, and it was a great improvement over the previous generation intranet. It had a little pizazz to it. However, there were some limitations. For one, the internet was not organized in a way that made a lot of sense for most people for example they were categories by culture values rather than by function. This created a lot of dislike for the site by the company, making it difficult to find what you were looking for. Furthermore, search was not as functional as it should have been. Because content was embedded in panels, native Drupal search did not handle that very well, and forget about being able to search with-in documents themselves. Thus, began the long process of moving all the content to the cloud, and calling SharePoint Online our new home. Using out of the box web parts, plus a few custom ones, I was able to create a one of a kind intranet that not only made things easer to find, but the search functionality that searches for documents, with-in PDFs, and even people makes life so much better.
